EBOOK : Educating Nurses for Leadership
There is uncertainty within the nursing profession as to not only what leadership is but what knowledge and skills are necessary for nursing to influence health care (Antrobus, 1997; Wilson & PorterO'Grady, 1999; Wright, 1996). Leadership behaviors have not been adequately developed because undergraduate educational programs have not emphasized leadership skill development. This is particularly evident in associate degree graduates whose programs, bulging with curricula, have created a large population of nurses with very little, if any, leadership learning.
