Laparoscopic excision of a solitary retroperitoneal neurofibroma in the pelvis
A neurofibroma is a benign nerve sheath tumor that can occur as part of the manifestations ofneurofibromatosis type-1 (NF1), or rarely, it can present as a solitary retroperitoneal tumor [1–3]. We report a case of solitary neurofibroma in the pelvic retroperitoneal space in a female without any stig-mata of NF1, which was excised laparoscopically, resulting in
resolution of her lower limb pain. In this case, we were sur-prised when the histology revealed a neurofibroma, as this finding is extremely rare in a solitary retroperitoneal location [1, 3].
