Esophageal cancer encompasses various types; the
two predominant types are squamous cell cancer
and adenocarcinoma. Their biologic and clinical features
are compelling not only in the United States but
worldwide as well. Other types of benign and malignant
esophageal tumors, although less common, are of
interest to both scientists and clinicians.
