This is the second volume in our annual research volume titled Advances in Health Care Management. Our initial volume described in detail the types of papers we publish in each volume as well as the processes we use to select the papers we publish (Blair, Fouler & Savage, 2000) . Included in this volume are invited state-of-the-art review papers by distinguished scholars, several open and special topic competitive papers, and several "best-papers" presented at the Academy of Management Health Care Management Division. The result is a mix of theoretical contributions and empirical research.
