The Annual Review of Nursing Research (ARNR) series was initiated last year (1983) to provide critical, integrative reviews of research in the various content areas of nursing. The enthusiastic responses first to poster sessions on the ARNR series conducted by the editors at a number of professional or scientific meetings, then later to the display of the Volume 1, 1983 page proofs at several meetings, and finally the symposium on the series at the Council of Nurse Researchers' Conference attest to the recognized importance of this series.
